Fats Waller was born on May 21st 1904. Fats Waller is one of the greatest stride piano players of all time. Fats Waller is one of the greatest composers of all time. Even though he died tragically at 39 due to pneumonia, Fats Waller is eternal.
He is a cultural stepping stone and pianists and most musicians still enjoy the many fruits of his labor. Simply put the man was and is an icon, He shows that this music can be great and most importantly fun.
